ACADEMICS
Immanuel Baptist School is a Master Video school using the Abeka Book curriculum. Our academics focus on the core subjects of Bible, Math, English/Language, History, and Science.
Students are taught academically through a Biblical Worldview, with daily Bible class or weekly Chapel as a highlight of what makes us distinctively a Christian school.
Students are taught to build a strong work ethic academically through regular classwork, homework, and project assignments. We believe that character is of vital importance, and that hard work and academic integrity is the best path to true success.
Parents have access to view their student’s progress through a parent portal, and receive regular printed progress reports. Parent partnership is imperative to academic success, and parents are encouraged to ensure their students are completing their homework and projects properly and completely.
Immanuel’s academics have a proven track record of providing student’s with the foundation to pursue further education and join the workforce or start a career.
Homework
Since homework is an integral part of the school program, each teacher gives homework to aid students to advance in their studies. Therefore, each student is required to complete their homework assignments. Homework is given for several reasons.
- For preparation: Students profit most from classroom explanation and discussion when preparatory reading assignments are given.
- For practice: Following classroom explanation and illustration, homework is given so that the material will be mastered.
- For remedial activity: As instruction progresses, various weak points in a student’s grasp of a subject become evident. Homework following instruction may be given to overcome such difficulties.
- For special projects: Book reports, compositions, special research assignments, and projects are some of the activities that are frequently the subject of homework attention.
Report Slips and report cards
Report slips will be sent home periodically. These report slips show the progress of the student during the past week to help the parent oversee his or her child’s education. At the end of each nine-week period, report cards are sent home.
